Our Story

Ingen Technologies, Inc, has developed and implemented process control, network and information systems technologies for 25 years. The company founder, Michael Halbig formed Systematic Control Design, Inc. (SCD) in April 1983 to design and implement process control systems for Fortune 100 manufacturers. For 15 years, SCD devoted itself to metals, automotive, plastics, chemical and pharmaceutical process industries. The majority of the hardware and software technologies of the day were proprietary. Wireless networking was only adopted in military segments and the Internet did not yet exist.

In the 1980’s and early 1990’s “open standards” became more prevalent especially in the networking and software industries. Microsoft Corporation was driving demand for personal computer (PC) adoption on the “plant floor” as well as the “home desktop”. SCD began to augment its years of process control expertise with advanced network and software engineering expertise.

In 1997, SCD became acquainted with the Water/Wastewater utility industry, implementing projects in control, SCADA, paging and plant process control. Wireless VHF radio networks have been common in the industry for many years due to the geographic dispersion of assets. The technology for wireless broadband network solutions across an entire community finally matured after the millennium.

The adoption of “convergence” (voice, video and data combined on a single network) revealed a grand new vision for SCD. In January, 2005 the name of the company was changed to InGen Technologies, Inc. to correspond with this vision.

“InGen” personifies the ambition to develop InGenious solutions in an Interactive converGent world of technology.

Public utilities need integrated control, network and information (CNI) technologies that truly work together on a large and geographic scale. InGen is devoted to serving these needs in the utility industry.
